Bangkok has a new attraction along the Chao Phraya River offering 360-degree views of the city from the equivalent height of a 36-storey building (135 metres high).
SkyFlyers Bangkok: Wings of Garudapterus, is one of the world’s tallest swing rides, and is now open at Asiatique The Riverfront. The ride elevates 24 people high into the Bangkok skyline, where the city below blurs into a sea of lights as you soar through the air.

Where is SkyFlyers
SkyFlyers is located in Asiatique Riverfront, a lively open-air complex filled with shops, restaurants and attractions. Asiatique sits along the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, south of the city centre.
How to get to SkyFlyers
SkyFlyers is well situated meaning it’s relatively straightforward to get to.

The easiest way to get to SkyFlyers is by taking the BTS to Saphan Taksin Station (Silom Line). Then exit the station and walk for a few minutes to Sathorn Pier, where you can then hop on one of the free shuttle boats (yes, I know free!).
The only downside to this option is the boat is quite slow and in the Bangkok heat, especially if you are visiting during the day might not make for the most pleasant experience.

What to Expect
I was visiting my girlfriend in Bangkok for her birthday and after a lovely couple of days together, we wanted to find something special, memorable and more importantly fun to cap off our time together. Pam had mentioned reading about SkyFlyers, so we decided to give it a go.
It’s generally recommended that you visit SkyFlyers around sunset to see the best views of the city and don’t worry you won’t need to book days in advance. From my experience I booked the tickets a couple hours before with no issues. Although ultimately we decided to change our time to around 8 PM, as we were both tired after a long day.
After arriving at Asiatique Riverfront we went straight to the SkyFlyers ride, which is impossible to miss. Just follow the huge spinning thing. To be quite honest there weren’t that many staff and the process seemed a bit disorganised. Nevertheless we queued for around 20 minutes before it was our turn to get on the ride.
The Ride
When you enter the ride the attendant will tell you to leave all personal belongings next to your chair on a small table. I am slightly torn on this as I can appreciate the danger that falling items would potentially be, but then again my more cynical side wonders if this is just a tactic to encourage people to purchase the GoPro.
The ride is extremely worth it as once you get to the top you have an amazing view of the city and the river below. I found it bit hard to take in the view as I am a bit sheepish when it comes to heights. Pam on the other hand loved every moment of it, clearly much braver than I am.
The ride itself is fairly short around 3 – 4 minutes, but honestly it feels longer or maybe that’s just me being a wimp.

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a memorable experience and are not scared of heights, SkyFlyers is an excellent choice offering unbeatable views of Bangkok at a reasonable price. Additionally, there are plenty of other attractions and restaurants to visit in Asiatique, making it a great place to visit regardless.
