Old Rice Field / Coffee & Brunch is one of the most peaceful cafés I have visited in Hoi An. Tucked away beside a beautiful green rice field, just outside the Old Town, this hidden café offers tranquil views, great Vietnamese coffee, and a relaxing escape from the busy tourist areas.

Where is Old Rice Field / Coffee & Brunch
Okay, I should probably address this first, the name is a bit of a mouth full. But what the café lacks in branding, it definitely makes up for with the overall experience.
Old Rice Field is tucked away in a beautiful lush green rice field east of Hoi An Old Town. The journey to the café takes you through the winding streets of Hoi An away from the busy tourist crowds and eventually to the gorgeous rice fields offering picturesque views of the Hoi An scenery.
A Nice Change of Pace from Hoi An Old Town
As mentioned in my Duck Stop review, it’s a really nice change of pace travelling outside of the main tourist area. Don’t get my wrong I love Hoi An Old Town, but the number of tourists can get a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re trying to have a relaxing day.
Visiting Old Rice Field felt much more peaceful and relaxing compared to the busy streets around the Old Town. It’s the kind of place where you can properly slow down and enjoy the scenery for a few hours.

How to Get to Old Rice Field / Coffee & Brunch
Old Rice Field is located around 4 km from Hoi An Old Town, which takes roughly 15 minutes by car or motorbike.
Drinks Menu at Old Rice Field / Coffee & Brunch
There are plenty of options to choose from, ranging from coffee and smoothies to cocktails and beer.
We chose the the salt coffee (Cà phê muối) and black coffee (Cà phê đen đá), which were both very good as can be expected in Vietnam. The coffee culture here is next level

What to expect
I would recommend visiting this café if you’re looking for a relaxing sanctuary away from the busy crowds of Hoi An. You could easily spend all day here taking photos, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and admiring the beautiful views.

Is there Air Conditioning?
No, this is an outdoor only café so there is no air conditioning. However, there are plenty of fans dotted around the place, which you can hook up to one of the many power outlets. Also as the café sits next to a large rice field there is a pleasant breeze that does pass through.
Can I work here?
Yes, I think this shouldn’t be an issue as there is wifi and some large tables. It should be noted that when I visited the café it was very quiet and peaceful, so if you do decide to work here, please do us a favour no loud work calls.
Is it Instagrammable?
100%. This is the perfect place to get unique photos when visiting Hoi An. There are loads of great spots where you can capture the rice field and as you enter the café there is a large wooden bridge, which makes for a fantastic place to get some cool shots.

Final thoughts
