I will start this blog off by saying, that if you’re looking for some a crazy remote campsite in the middle of the Vietnamese jungle, this isn’t the blog for you. Instead, I’ll be discussing my experience at a campsite around 30km outside of Da Nang.
The location
Cu De Camping.
The atmosphere
I visited this campsite alongside my work colleagues. Although, I had been an avid camper growing up in Scotland this was the first time that I had camped outside of Europe.
Unlike, many campsites in the UK which often feel more like an outdoor adventure for the old folks home and will rarely see much movement after 10 pm. This campsite had party atmosphere and in classic Asian style a large karaoke set up alongside an incredibly enthusiastic hype man.
BBQ
The campsite provided us with a small grill that we could cook some food on. I am unsure if they provide coal for the fire, as we brought our own, so I would recommend bringing your own to avoid disappointment.

The party
One of the most foreign parts of this camping experience was that unlike what is common in the UK there was a real sense of community among us and the other campers. Vietnamese people are generally very welcoming and I happy to have a shared experience. This was evident when the ‘party’ started, there was a large stage in the middle of the campsite, with a very enthusiastic and funny hype man, who encouraged campers to engage in party games to win small prizes. This was topped off with the typical karaoke and accumulated in everyone joining hands and dancing around a large fire, sounds like a cult right? However, this was great fun and led to us meeting some new friends.
The camping facilities
The camping facilities were fairly glamorous for my standard, with a large tent set up, which included a thin mattress, sockets to charge electrical devices and even a small fan, which we made good use of of.
Good morning
After a relatively sound sleep, it was nice to unzip the tent and see the beautiful Vietnamese countryside landscape. There was also a small shop on the campsite, which provided some breakfast and coffee, which was a nice touch after a few too many beers last night.
